Introduction
This policy explains funding of memberships of individuals and the university in organizations.
Policy Statement
Institutional memberships that are of a university-wide nature, such as the American Council on Education, the National Association of State University Land Grant Colleges, and the North Central Accrediting Association, may be funded centrally. Decisions about and funding of other association memberships should be made at the college and departmental level.
Personal memberships in professional organizations are a professional and personal responsibility. These generally will not be paid from university funds. However, in certain circumstances journals or other professional information may be obtained through memberships. Individual memberships or dues may be charged to grant, contract, or other funds if permitted by the sponsoring agency.
